Lot Update: September 2026

Hi NW Tiny Homes friends! We just crane-lifted our first home ever, both lots got paved, and we survived a power outage. Here's everything worth knowing from the past couple months, plus a new content lead who's about to post a lot more video.

Jimmy here, we are starting off our new monthly update blog series. The goal is simple: keep our community updated with anything noteworthy in the tiny home space, as well as what has been going on at both of our lots.

We want this blog and monthly email to be very easy to read and packed with good info and behind the scenes content, and we want to make sure it is worthwhile, something interesting that pops up in your inbox that you look forward to reading.

The First Home We've Ever Set By Crane

One of this month's builds went to a customer on the Oregon coast, on a lot that sits in a flood plain. County rules meant the home couldn't go down on our usual piers, it had to be lifted up onto reinforced concrete piers to clear the flood elevation. That's a taller, more exact set than we normally do, so instead of our regular equipment we brought in a crane to lift it into place. It took about five hours start to finish, and the crew got it set right the first time.

New Alder Inventory On Both Lots

Two new Alder inventory homes finished up in July, one for Portland and one for Snohomish. If you want to walk through an Alder without waiting on a custom build, both lots have one on the ground and ready to tour right now.

An Alder Landed In Castle Rock

One of our newest Alders went to a really cool spot: an RV Inn Style resort in Castle Rock. It's the kind of location that shows what these homes can do outside a standard lot, permanent basecamp for a weekend getaway. More partnerships with RV Inn Style are in the works, so expect to see more of these placements.

Portland and Snohomish Both Got Paved

Both lots got asphalt this summer, Portland in July and Snohomish in August. It's a smoother walk on tours, a cleaner look pulling in, and better drainage than the gravel, which used to wash out every time it rained hard. Landscaping is next on the list at both locations.

How We Handled a Few Days Without Power

In August we had a big project out front of the Portland lot: a car took out the power pole and knocked us offline. Alameda Electric came in clutch and got the pole and connections rebuilt fast, and we ran on a generator for a few days to keep the lot open while they worked.

A New Tie-Down Option For Seismic Areas

On a recent delivery, our install crew added a vapor barrier and an earthquake tie-down system underneath the home, on top of our standard piers and tie-downs. It's now something we can offer as an add-on for future builds. If you're placing a home somewhere with higher seismic risk, ask us about it.

A New Owner's Guide For Every Delivery

We just finished printing a new Owner's Guide: what happens after your home is delivered, how the warranty works, who to call, and how to keep the home dry, level, and comfortable for the long haul. Every new delivery gets one from here on, and we're mailing copies out to current owners too.

Snohomish Keeps Filling In

The newer lot keeps getting more finished. New fence around the property, a new office door, screens on the windows. Small stuff on its own, but together it's starting to feel like a real second home instead of a lot we just opened.

Meet Cara, Our New Content Lead

Cara Lindsay joined the team in August as our Content Creator and Social Lead, so you'll be seeing more of her work behind the photos, videos, and posts from both lots. She comes from a communications and marketing background and is a freelance photographer on the side, so expect the picture quality around here to keep going up. She's already got a lot of new videos in the pipeline, follow along on Instagram and TikTok to catch them as they go up.

Meet the Teams

Amanda and Adam hold down the front of the Portland lot. Keith and Katie do the same up in Snohomish. If you've called in, toured, or worked through a customization, there's a good chance you've talked to one of them.

One more thing worth a look: we get a lot of questions about running a park model off grid, so we put together a full write-up on what it actually takes, power, water, waste, permits, and real cost ranges. Read the off-grid guide.

Most Watched This Month

Our "3 reasons why we're the best" video pulled in 188,000 views this month, easily our biggest one yet. If you haven't seen it, worth the minute.
